Jamin Davis gets the Kentucky Wildcats on the board in Round 1!
Davis was selected 19th overall by the Washington Football Team in Thursday’s Round 1 of the NFL Draft. This marks the second time in three years that a defensive player from the Wildcats came off the board in the first round. Linebacker Josh Allen was selected, of course, by the Jacksonville Jaguars then. And now, Davis follows on and is headed up to D.C.
Jones joins a WFT squad that made the NFL Playoffs this year. They have a rising defense, anchored by edge rusher Chase Young. So Davis is joining up with a talented bunch that has a lot of room to grow. He’s got the potential to become a very strong piece on this defense going forward.
Additionally, by being a first-rounder, Davis joins an elusive group of Kentucky players picked in this round. Only four players from UK have been picked in the first round since 2000. Those players are Davis, the aforementioned Allen, Bud Dupree, and Dewayne Robertson in 2003. Funnily enough, all four are defensive players.
