The Tennessee Volunteers will open up shop in 2021 in primetime.

The Vols announced Tuesday afternoon that their opener vs. the Bowling Green Falcons will be an 8 p.m. ET start on Thursday, September 2. The game will be televised on the SEC Network as a featured matchup to open up the campaign.

This of course, as the tweet indicates, also will usher in the 100th season at historic Neyland Stadium. One should expect a whole heck of a lot of fanfare for this one, as it also represents the debut of new head coach Josh Heupel, too. The Vols will be looking quite a bit different in all facets after plenty of departures in the offseason. But, optimism will hopefully be riding high for their opening night matchup against the Falcons.

This, of course, is the first official time announced for the Volunteers’ 2021 schedule. Their nonconference schedule features matchups against the Falcons, the Pitt Panthers, and Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.
