The South Carolina Gamecocks will not be partaking in bowl season.
The Gamecocks, who’d accepted an invitation to the Gasparilla Bowl, have now withdrawn from that bowl game. The program cited COVID-19 and contact tracing as the primary reasons for the program’s withdrawal from the game, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday, December 26.
Athletic Director Ray Tanner made the announcement that the Gamecocks were balking through the program’s Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gamecocks were scheduled to face the UAB Blazers of Conference USA in the game on Saturday. As of right now, there is no news on if there will be a replacement for the Gamecocks in that bowl game. Time will soon tell if there can be a quick fix to this situation. But given the scope of everything going on, it certainly doesn’t feel like this game is going to happen in general.
