A former five-star recruit no longer playing for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Brenton Cox is heading to the transfer portal. Earlier reports on Monday stated that Cox had been dismissed from the program. Other reports said that he was heading into the transfer portal. Then there are the reports that lie in the middle, at least according to FOX 5 down in Georgia, that state that this was a mutual parting of ways between Cox and the UGA football program.
Nevertheless, UGA is now down one linebacker as they head into the 2019 season. They’re also down two members of the 2018 recruiting class. Cox as well as Luke Ford are no longer with the program for different reasons. This is certainly another ding that UGA will have to absorb going forward, and one that might loom large for a defense that had to reload a bit heading into this coming year.
Whomever lands Cox will be getting quite the player. He was a former five-star recruit back in high school and played well in limited action, collecting 20 total tackles and a sack in 11 games in 2018.
