Lane Kiffin may be on his way back to the SEC.
Neal McCready of Rebels Grove reported earlier Friday night that Kiffin, the current head coach for the Florida Atlantic Owls, and the Ole Miss Rebels were “as close to a done deal without being official as possible.” McCready posted this news on his Twitter account:
Multiple sources telling me tonight Lane Kiffin to Ole Miss is as close to a done deal without being official as is possible. At this point, I expect an announcement Sunday.

A few short hours later, Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports would report that Kiffin had become the frontrunner for the job and that details would soon be sorted out by Saturday night at the earliest.
SOURCES: #FAU's Lane Kiffin has emerged as the top target of #OleMiss, and a deal could be sorted out as early as Saturday night.

And then, a few minutes later, McCready would tweet out an update that the deal was all but done, and that an official announcement of Kiffin’s hire would soon come on Monday.
It's not officially signed, but it's done. Lane Kiffin is Ole Miss' next head football coach. He'll arrive in Oxford Sunday. I expect the Ole Miss band to meet him there. He'll be announced officially on Monday, likely at the Pavilion at Ole Miss. @RivalsChase.

This obviously would cause quite the stir in a number of places (FYI they play the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville in 2021, just saying) if these reports are true. Given the sources, it’s hard to believe at this point that it’s not, so we’ll now just wait and see how all of this develops.
Welcome back Lane?
