The Ole Miss Rebels are back in action on Saturday. The Rebels will look to end a three-game losing streak as they host the New Mexico State Aggies in Oxford for a nonconference matchup.
The Rebels had best hope to pick up a win and collect themselves, as NMSU is one of the worst teams in the FBS. They have gone 0-8 so far this year, a far cry from the Arizona Bowl-winning season they had two years ago. They rank 119th in the country in PPG with 18.0, and have the second-worst mark in the entire nation in terms of opponent points per game with 42.4.
So, uh, needless to say, this represents a nice chance for Ole Miss to recollect and regather themselves as the stretch run concludes. They likely won’t be bowling this year with the LSU Tigers likely standing in their way next week no matter what happens to them against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. So they will have to chase those wins somewhere. Doing so against an 0-8 NMSU squad is probably the way to do it.
