Alabama overwhelms Tennessee, 58-21

You weren’t expecting anything else, right?

The Alabama Crimson Tide weren’t going to be denied on Saturday. They picked up their 12th straight victory over the Tennessee Volunteers, 58-21, to improve to 8-0 on the year.

Alabama really outdid themselves, scoring 28 points in the 1st quarter to put this out of reach as quickly as possible. Tua Tagovailoa threw two touchdown passes to sophomore Jerry Jeudy and freshman Jaylen Waddle. Josh Jacobs scored on a rushing touchdown from three yards out, set up by a strip sack, and Damien Harris also had a three-yard rushing score.

Jacobs scored again in the 2nd quarter, but the Volunteers, to their credit, weren’t going to be shutout. Ty Chandler picked up a 10-yard receiving TD and Tyler Byrd had a 20-yard receiving TD of his own in the 2nd quarter. Unfortunately, as has been the case for... everyone they’ve faced this season... there was just too much Alabama for them to handle. Irv Smith Jr. scored a receiving TD with 15 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter to prop them up 42-14 going into the half.

Jeremy Pruitt had some words for his team at the half, per Jamie Erdahl.

You know the rest if you were watching. Alabama scored on a safety, a Henry Ruggs III receiving TD and a rushing score by Jalen Hurts. The only other Tennessee TD was scored on a pick six by Kyle Phillips.

Ain’t much else to say here. ‘Bama is still ‘Bama, and Tennessee probably won’t be competing anytime soon with them.
