The Arkansas Razorbacks have earned their second win of the 2018 season.
The Hogs defeated the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 23-0 on Saturday afternoon. The win puts them at 2-6 on the season, and while they certainly would like to be better than that, they will absolutely take what they can get.
It certainly helped the Hogs’ cause that their average field position was on their 38 yard line. Four of their drives started in Tulsa territory, and all of those drives resulted in points. 20 of their 23 points were scored on those drives. That included a Grayson Gunter touchdown reception from Connor Noland and a Maleek Williams rushing touchdown. Multiple field goals off the boot of Connor Limpert also added to the damage, as he kicked three of them en route to the win.
It was a stout showing for the Razorbacks defense, obviously. The Hogs held Tulsa to 260 total yards, with 103 coming in the 4th quarter. They allowed merely 127 yards through the air and just 133 on the ground.
Rakeem Boyd led the way in rushing with 99 yards on 22 carries. Chase Hayden had 43 on nine while the aforementioned Maleek Williams had 23 on nine. Connor Noland was serviceable in throwing the ball, passing for 124 yards as he went 10-of-16 through the air. Noland tossed the aforementioned score to Grayson Gunter and also an interception into the hands of Tulsa defensive back McKinley Whitfield.
Arkansas will host the Vanderbilt Commodores next week as they look for their first SEC victory of the season.
