Ishmael Sopsher is headed to Tuscaloosa. The four-star defensive tackle from Amite, Louisiana has elected to commit to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Sopsher committed to the Tide over the home state LSU Tigers, where a few of his Amite teammates are headed this fall, on Wednesday.
Amite 2019 DT Ishmael Sopsher commits to and will sign with Alabama

Sopsher ranks 47th in the nation in the 2019 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-3.5, 334-pound defensive tackle ranks fifth right now at his position. The company he keeps includes Zacch Pickens (South Carolina Gamecocks), DeMarvin Leal (Texas A&M Aggies), Tavon Walker (Georgia Bulldogs) and Chris Hinton (Michigan Wolverines). He also ranks 3rd in the state of Louisiana, behind LSU commits Derek Stingley and John Emery Jr.
As we mentioned, Sopsher isn’t the only touted recruit from Amite to be heading to the SEC. Sopsher’s teammate Devonta Lee made his commitment to LSU earlier in the day. They will be on opposite ends during future ‘Bama-LSU matchups as a result.
Naturally, Alabama is still No. 1 in the nation and the SEC after Sopsher’s commitment.
