Robert Williams is headed to the Northeast. The Texas A&M Aggies big man has been selected by the Boston Celtics with the 27th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft on Thursday.

Once thought to be a lottery pick last year, the Aggies big man returned to school and landed 27th. Still a first rounder, Williams joins a contender in the Celtics, who went to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals this past postseason.

This past season, he averaged 10.4 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 63.2 percent from the field. In his career at A&M, he averaged 11.1 points and 8.7 boards per game.

Williams is the first Aggie to be taken in the 1st round since Acie Law back in 2007, when he was taken by the Atlanta Hawks. He’s the first Aggie in general to be taken in the draft since Khris Middleton was picked by the Milwaukee Bucks.
