Before we talk about Monday night, let’s flip back to Sunday.
In the lone game of the day, the Ole Miss Rebels dispatched the Chattanooga Mocs. The Rebels triumphed over the Mocs, 90-70, and moved to 8-2 on the season. It was their fifth straight victory and seventh in their last eight games, the lone loss coming to the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Terence Davis showed out, going for 20 points with a mark of 9-for-11 from the field with seven assists and five rebounds and just one turnover in 31 minutes. Breein Tyree also put up 20 points while Bruce Stevens had 15 off the bench.
The lone game of the night might provide some excitement. Before 18th-ranked Arizona State hosts the Kansas Jayhawks this weekend in Tempe, they must first combat the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Simi Shittu and the ‘Dores haven’t seen the floor in 12 days, as we last saw them take down the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. They’re 6-2 on the season, with their losses coming to the North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Kent State Golden Flashes. A win over ASU would give them their third victory over a Top 100 opponent this season, with victories already under their belt against the USC Trojans and Liberty Flames.
Ranked 64th on KenPom, they’ll face ASU, who while ranked 18th in the nation, are ranked 42nd on KenPom. So this might be a more even matchup than some might expect it to be. It’s a proverbial coin flip on KP, with Vandy’s WP% being at 52 percent. So you might want to tune in to see how this one plays out.
