SEC baseball tournament preview

It’s a waiting game for some, crunch time for others.

It’s the best time of college baseball season, and that’s tournament time. Some teams are already safely in the tournament, and some are thankful for the second season.

Teams in most need of a win:

  • Missouri
  • Texas A&M
  • LSU
  • Kentucky

A betting man would probably say that Kentucky and Texas A&M are on the right side of the bubble, but the margin for error is slim, so wins would help them out masterfully.

Missouri had to squeeze into the tournament on the last weekend of the regular season, and they face red-hot South Carolina today as the last game of the day.

LSU plays Mississippi State. One could look at LSU’s resume and think it’s good enough, but the RPI isn’t quite comfortable enough yet. That’s a game the Tigers need.

Texas A&M has the resume, but the 13-17 conference record might not do it. They play the first game of the day against Vanderbilt.

The first set of games are today. These set of games are single elimination, and the match-ups are as follows:

  • (6) Vanderbilt vs (11) Texas A&M
  • (7) Auburn vs (10) Kentucky
  • (8) LSU vs (9) Mississippi State
  • (5) South Carolina vs (12) Missouri

The theme of the games today is to survive and advance, and one team in every game today will be glad to do just that.
