I haven’t been able to say this a lot this year, but after four games, I think we can get a pretty good read on both these teams.

Mississippi State is a middle to bottom of the pack SEC team who can only play their style of football. If defenses aren’t giving the Leach air raid big plays, then they are going to struggle to put up points.

The Bulldog defense is decent, but nothing more. They are giving up 5.3 yards per play, just 12th in the SEC. They allow more passing yards per game than anyone else in the SEC and lack a good pass rush, something you almost need in this conference.

Texas A&M hasn’t given anyone much to be excited about either. Haynes King went down in the Colorado game, a contest which the Aggies only ended up winning by three points.

A&M just doesn’t have the ability to rack up yards through the air right now and the offensive line isn’t good enough to maul defenses on the ground all day.

While Mississippi State’s defense has it’s issues, it will still present enough of a challenge to Texas A&M’s offense to where some things will have to be figure out if the Aggies want to win this game.

This game may just come down to whoever has enough playmakers step up. The quarterbacks are what they are and there’s no immediate fix for either squad’s issues. I think I will go with Texas A&M at home here and believe in their defense to neutralize the air raid, but it will be close.
