A former Tennessee Vols track star may have missed out on becoming NXT Women’s Champion at NXT TakeOver: Portland, but tonight she gets a shot at one of the best in the business.
Bianca Belair, who once starred at Tennessee in track and field as Bianca Blair, will be competing on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT. Belair will get a chance to face one of the very best, as she will be pit against one Charlotte Flair.
Flair, the daughter of the legendary ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, won the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble Match down in Houston exactly a month ago on January 26. Since then, she has crossed paths with Belair and the incumbent NXT Women’s Champ, Rhea Ripley.
Belair has been shot out of a cannon lately after a stirring performance at the Rumble and a near-championship clinching performance against Ripley in Portland. There has been lots of discussion lately about Belair and the possibility that she could insert herself into the currently scheduled match between Ripley and Flair at WrestleMania. There are a couple of weeks to go until Mania, which is set to take place down at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on April 5. So, a win tonight, or even a terrific performance in a loss, could very well give credence to that belief that she will remain in the thick of it.
NXT airs on the USA Network at 8 p.m. ET. It’s a two-hour show, and this will more than likely be the main event of the evening. So you’ll want to tune in all the way, just in case.
