The Mississippi State Bulldogs are reeling of late. Losers of four in a row and five of their last six, the Bulldogs are immersed in quite the tailspin. But come Saturday evening, they have an opportunity to elude that tailspin and get back on the right track.

Their attempt to evade a five-game losing streak comes in the form of a matchup with the lowly Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs are 2-6 on the season and still have yet to win a single conference game. They have given up the most points out of any team in the conference (263) and have scored the third-fewest amount of points in the SEC (180) this year. Suffice it to say, these Razorbacks haven’t been good and that might even be underselling it.

Thus, it represents a hearty opportunity for Mississippi State to get off the pine. If they want to make any attempt at salvaging this year it must happen in this game. Because, well, chances are it’s not happening against the Alabama Crimson Tide on November 16. Maybe against Abilene Christian on the 23rd. But, not against ‘Bama.

That Mississippi State is only a seven-point favorite in this game probably tells you a lot about them more than it does Arkansas. The game may be in Arkansas, but State should certainly be more than a touchdown better than the Hogs. But alas, their losing ways of late have likely not made things easy for them. Nor has their 2-6 record ATS this year. I would probably say Mississippi State wins this by more than a TD, but I’m not super confident.
