We’ve nearly made it to the finish line, folks. Thursday is looming, and so too is the 2018 college football season. The SEC’s 2018 season begins on Thursday, as the Texas A&M Aggies are tasked with getting the ball rolling.

The Aggies and new head coach Jimbo Fisher will kickoff the year against the Northwestern State Demons. The FCS reps head into College Station, where the Aggies have had a lion’s share of success in home openers.

They’ve won their last five home openers at Kyle Field, the last loss coming to the Florida Gators back in 2012, when they joined the SEC. Turning the page back further, they have only two losses since 2008, when the Arkansas State Red Wolves walked in and upset them. Other than that, they have more than handled their business to start off the season. That’s a trend that the Aggie faithful will hope they continue on Thursday night.

Kellen Mond, who was named the starting QB for the Aggies this week, will look to avoid such an event happening and lead them to victory. He will be aided by the play of running back Trayveon Williams. Williams, who was named to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team this offseason, will be looking to build off of two terrific seasons so far.

On defense, Landis Durham will be the one to watch, as he was a Preseason All-SEC Third Team selection in the offseason. He’s coming off a season in which he had 11 TFL and 10.5 sacks, which are pretty monster numbers, to say the least.
