In a surprise to no one following the recruitment of Luke Doty, the 4-star quarterback and Palmetto State native has elected to commit to the University of South Carolina.

The addition of Doty, a player for Myrtle Beach High School, comes only a day after he visited the school, with him tweeting the following this evening:

For Will Muschamp and his staff, Doty is a tremendous get. Doty is not only the best quarterback in the state—he is also ranked by Rivals as the 7th-best pro-style quarterback in the class of 2020.

On top of that, Doty turned down offers from schools such as Auburn, North Carolina, NC State, Louisville, and Ole Miss in his selection of Columbia as his future home.

Overall, Doty is the fourth commitment for South Carolina in the class of 2020, joining 3 other four-star players (Issiah Walker, Jr.—OT; Tyshawn Wannamaker—OG; Mecose Todd—RB). Prior to his commitment, the Gamecocks possessed the 11th-best recruiting class in 2020, which rose to being ranked 7th in the country following today’s news.

Below are some of Doty’s high school highlights:
