It was a fantastic weekend of baseball across the country, as teams were playing for a chance to go to the Mecca of college baseball, Omaha.
The SEC had six teams facing off in the Super Regionals round against each other. South Carolina fell to Arkansas in three games, Auburn lost two heartbreakers to the defending champions, the Florida Gators, and Vanderbilt dropped a well-played series on both sides to Mississippi State.
Gary Henderson is making an awfully strong case for the permanent head coaching job, guiding this Mississippi State team to Omaha after such a rough start.
Along with the Bulldogs, Florida, and Arkansas, the full field of Omaha includes 2017 visitor Oregon State, traditional powers Texas and North Carolina, first time visitors the Washington Huskies, and recent power Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are making their third trip to Omaha in five years.
The College World Series starts this Saturday at 2 p.m. Oregon State and North Carolina will play the first game, while Washington will play Mississippi State at seven o’clock.
