Minkah Fitzpatrick is taking his talents to South Beach!

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s star defensive back will be playing for the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins selected Fitzpatrick with the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

He’s the first Alabama player off the board and the second player from the SEC, after Roquan Smith of the Georgia Bulldogs was drafted 8th overall by the Chicago Bears earlier Thursday.

Minkah was nothing short of a superstar in his time with the Tide. In three seasons, he racked up nine interceptions, 171 total tackles, 16.5 TFL, 5.0 sacks and had four defensive touchdowns. He forced two fumbles and had 24 passes defended. He had a punt return touchdown to boot in his freshman season back in 2015.

In 2017, Fitzpatrick won both the Bednarik Award (Defensive Player of the Year) and the Thorpe Award (Defensive Back of the Year) and was also a consensus All-American in 2016 and 2017. He was also an All-SEC First Team member in both 2016 and 2017, as well.

Congrats and best of luck to Minkah Fitzpatrick with the Dolphins!
