Georgia Bulldogs star linebacker Roquan Smith is the newest member of the Chicago Bears!
The Bears chose the All-SEC linebacker with the 8th overall pick in Thursday’s first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Smith was one of many stars on the loaded Georgia defense that made it all the way to the College Football Playoff Championship earlier this January. The Dawgs star amassed 252 total tackles in three seasons at UGA, along with 6.5 sacks (all in 2018), three passes defended, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
In 2018, Smith had 17 total tackles, 14 TFL, 6.5 sacks, two passes defended, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. His status as an off-ball linebacker is unmatched in this class, and should prove to be an excellent addition to a Bears defense that is on the up and up. He will join former Georgia Bulldog Leonard Floyd, who of course was drafted in the 1st round by the Bears two seasons ago.
Congrats and best of luck to Roquan Smith!
