TOP HEADLINES

SOUTH CAROLINA SWEEPS MIZZOU

The Gamecocks had a terrific weekend, as they defeated the Missouri Tigers in swift fashion. The Gamecocks won 6-3 on Friday, 8-3 on Saturday and then 6-2 on Sunday, good for a 3-game sweep of their fellow SEC foe. The Gamecocks improved to 11-7 in league play with the sweep, giving them sole possession of 3rd place in the conference and an overall record of 37-11. Mizzou, meanwhile, fell to 6-14 in league play after being bounced by the Gamecocks, and are 24-24 overall on the year. It’s obviously a tale of two seasons here, ones that are completely different from each other.

FLORIDA PUSHES WIN STREAK UP TO 7

The touted Florida Gators maintained their dominance throughout the weekend. UF racked up three wins over Mississippi State, including a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. The Gators are now 15-3 on the year in league play, 41-7 overall and have won their last seven games in a row. They are within striking distance of claiming the SEC regular season championship, but Georgia does remain hot on their tail. Still, they’re as hot as can be right now, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to stop.

THE MIDDLE REMAINS CONGESTED

Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas and Alabama are all within two games of one another in the SEC standings after this weekend’s action. The Vols and Aggies both stand at 10-8 for a tie in 4th place right now. Auburn, meanwhile, stands at 11-9 after taking two of three from Arkansas. LSU is 9-8 now despite winning their weekend series with Texas A&M. Aforementioned Arkansas now sits at 9-9 after losing to Auburn twice in three tries, and Alabama meanwhile is 8-10 after losing two of three to Tennessee.

Enjoy the last Tuesday of the regular season! Ole Miss is currently in action with Alcorn State in the first part of a doubleheader. They are currently leading 2-0 in the Top of the 2nd inning. Wednesday figures to be more action-packed, as we’ll get the series finale between Florida State and Florida on Wednesday night. Also, of note, South Carolina plays USC Upstate on the ESPN+ streaming service, the first game to be aired on there, I do believe.
