Weekend softball action is set to begin in a few hours. But first, before we get there, here’s what went down this past week.
TENNESSEE ENJOYS PARADISE, SWEEPS THROUGH IT
Tennessee certainly enjoyed their stay in the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic out in Honolulu. They mowed through Cleveland State 12-0 and North Dakota 5-0 on Wednesday. Then they beat North Dakota again, this time 14-2, and then beat down Hawaii 10-5 on Thursday.
Reigning SEC Player of the Year Meghan Gregg hit three homers, one in each game except the first one against North Dakota on Wednesday.. The Vols are now 28-1 as they head into the weekend.
RANKED TEAMS RACK UP WINS
Tennessee was not the only ranked team in the SEC to win a couple games this week. Kentucky, South Carolina, LSU, Mississippi State, Georgia, Alabama and Ole Miss all racked up W’s this week.
Georgia swept through a doubleheader against Bucknell, while Kentucky soundly defeated both Northern Illinois and Indiana. South Carolina edged out Texas Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory, and LSU defeated Western Kentucky 7-3.
Mississippi State won twice, defeating Samford 11-1 and Memphis 7-1. Ole Miss, meanwhile, won 8-0 over SE Louisiana while Alabama won 3-1 over Georgia Tech
The only ranked team from the conference to lose? Texas A&M. They fell to UConn.
