As we all predicted, the SEC regular season championship is down to the Auburn Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers. With a win at Arkansas tonight, or a Tennessee loss to Mississippi State, Auburn can clinch no worse than a share of the regular season title — along with the #1 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament thanks to a January win at Tennessee. Tennessee can remain alive for a share of the title with a win or an Auburn loss, though both should be favored in their regular season finales on Saturday.
In the other two games tonight, Vanderbilt will say goodbye to three senior 1,000-point scorers as they host Missouri — who may or may not be saying hello to Michael Porter Jr. The two seniors on Alabama’s roster — Riley Norris and Ar’Mond Davis — are both injured and could return next year due to medical redshirts, though tonight’s game against Florida is likely to be Collin Sexton’s final home game, as the freshman phenom is projected to be a lottery pick in this year’s draft.
The other two teams playing their final home games couldn’t be in more different situations. Arkansas will honor six (!) seniors, including big guns Daryl Macon and Jaylen Barford, another starter in Anton Beard, and part-time starter Dustin Thomas, along with role players Trey Thompson and Arlando Cook. Mississippi State, on the other hand, has no seniors on scholarship.
