Lamar Peters and Admiral Schofield share Player of the Week honors, Jarred Vanderbilt lands Freshman of the Week

The Mississippi State Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats house this week’s SEC weekly honors.

We had Co-Players of the Week, as Mississippi State’s Lamar Peters and Tennessee’s Admiral Schofield share the honor this week. This past week, Peters averaged 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists in State’s two victories over the Texas A&M Aggies and South Carolina Gamecocks. Peters had 19 points, four boards and five assists in the OT win over South Carolina over the weekend, and 15 points, seven boards and seven assists in the 93-81 victory over the Aggies earlier in the week.

Schofield, meanwhile, put up an average of 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in Tennessee’s victories over the Florida Gators and Ole Miss Rebels. He also shot an impressive 51.6 percent on 31 tries from the field in both games. He also poured in a career-high 25 points in the victory over Ole Miss on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Jarred Vanderbilt did enough to earn the SEC’s Freshman of the Week Award. Vanderbilt had 11 points in each of Kentucky’s victories this week against the Arkansas Razorbacks and Missouri Tigers. The freshman from Houston shot a combined 8-10 from the field last week and was a perfect 4-4 from the field in the win over MIzzou. he also put up 15 boards in that game, and pulled down and average of 12.0 rebounds during the week.
