The Auburn Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats made their way into this week’s AP Top 25 and USA TODAY poll, giving the SEC three teams in the penultimate weekly rankings.
Auburn is the highest of the bunch, despite their loss to the Florida Gators over the weekend. The 24-5 Tigers rank 14th in the AP poll and 15th in the USA TODAY poll. We couldn’t find a consensus, but it’s as close as you could get.
Tennessee, on the other hand, sits 16th in the AP Top 25 and 17th in the USA TODAY poll. The 21-7 Volunteers had a 2-0 week, defeated aforementioned Florida as well as the Ole Miss Rebels.
Down the stretch comes Kentucky, who sit 23rd and 25th in this week’s AP and Coaches polls. The Wildcats, now 20-9, were unranked in both polls, but three straight victories have now gotten them back in the mix. That includes their wins over the Arkansas Razorbacks and Missouri Tigers, two prospective NCAA Tournament teams, this past week.
Arkansas, Florida and the Texas A&M Aggies also received votes this week. Arkansas nabbed three votes in the AP poll and two votes in the Coaches poll. The Gators got one vote in the AP Top 25 and 10 in the USA TODAY poll. Meanwhile, A&M didn’t receive any AP Top 25 votes but landed one USA TODAY poll vote.
