The Tennessee Volunteers followed up their upset of Auburn by taking a beatdown by Alabama. There’s no inherent shame in that, as Alabama beats everyone down, but it was likely disheartening for a Vols squad that seemed to possibly have some momentum finally building. The good news for them is the South Carolina Gamecocks aren’t Alabama.
The bad news for Tennessee? South Carolina is still quite good. Jake Bentley has struggled a bit this season, but it seems that the Gamecocks used last week’s bye to hopefully fix some of that. It’s also worth noting that Bentley has never lost to the Volunteers.
Last season’s meeting was one of the more exciting games in SEC play, as the Gamecocks pulled off a 15-9 victory after Jarrett Guarantano fell short at the goal line as time expired. If Saturday’s game can be that enjoyable, everyone is in for some fun.
