Hill is the 12th commit for the Tigers in the 2018 cycle. With Hill aboard, their class ranks 26th in the nation and ninth in the SEC.
Hill becomes the second-best player in the class behind athlete Joey Gatewood. He is a four-star recruit per 247Sports' recruiting service. He ranks 160th nationally, 32nd at wideout and 18th in the state of Georgia. A native of Snellville, he hangs out in the company of four-stars Quay Walker and Josh Vann, who round out the Top 20.
247Sports' standalone rankings have a higher opinion on Hill. There, he ranks 87th nationally, 13th at wide receiver and 11th in Georgia.
Matthew is the second wide receiver of the class, as he joins Shedrick Jackson of Hoover, Alabama. Kolbi Fuqua, an athlete from Cordova, also plays wideout in high school. The 2017 Tigers feature just three players who who are at least redshirt sophomores at the position. Ryan Davis, Darius Slayton and Jason Smith are the upperclassmen in the group, while sophomores and freshmen are hanging around elsewhere. Malzahn and his staff are likely preparing for an exodus. So, it makes sense that they're concentrating at wide receiver in the cycle.
Hill stands 6-foot-2, 185 lbs. as he enters his senior season. He was one of the fastest players at The Opening event held in Atlanta, per 247Sports. He ran a 4.6 40-yard dash, so speed won't be a question mark when he arrives.
