Midweek play was on the SEC’s side as Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Auburn all tallied a W in the win column last night.
Here are the scores and recaps of Wednesday night’s games.
Ole Miss 2, Jacksonville State 1
The Rebels got their seventh walk-off victory this season off the bat of Miranda Strother who cranked a single in the final inning. This is Strother’s third walk-off this season. Pitcher Kaitlin Lee allowed only one run with six hits, while striking out three batters. Ole Miss has improved their record to 32-16.
Kentucky 8, UT Martin 2
The Wildcats continued their win streaks to six games as they cruised by the UT Martin Skyhawks last night. The Skyhawks kept it close until UK put their bats to work at the top of the sixth inning and did away with the game. Rachael Metzger contributed to the win with her eighth home run of the season. Pitcher Meagan Price earned her 12th complete game of the year, allowing two runs on six hits, four walks, and career-high 14 strikeouts. This win improved Price’s record to 16-6.
Auburn 14, Alabama State 1
Auburn dominated in their last regular season nonconference game. KK Crocker, Carmyn Greenwood, and Alyssa Rivera all had two hits a piece and they combined for five of the 12 hits and three RBI. To add on to the hitting extravaganza, Justus Perry had a two-run single, Kasey Cooper racked up four RBI and hit her 65th career home run, and VIctoria Draper tied for the game-high with three runs scored. Ashlee Swindle got her second start and win of this season, pitching four innings allowing only one run. Jenna Abbott got the save with two innings pitched and one strikeout.
