SEC softball series wrap up on Easter Sunday

Five games on tap today.

Leading Off...

The top game of the day on Saturday pit No. 10 Alabama vs. No. 14 Tennessee. The Volunteers were able to score a walk-off win over the Crimson Tide to give them their 17th victory in a row as they continue to steamroll their competition. The 17-game win streak is the longest active streak in the country right now and has put the Vols in striking distance of Florida’s top spot in the conference.

Speaking of, the Gators were cut down by the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday to make things a little more interesting. UK defeated UF 5-1 thanks to two two-run innings in the fifth and sixth frames. The Gators offense was frustrated all afternoon thanks to stellar pitching by the Wildcats, who only allowed two hits in the contest. Meagan Prince tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts along with those aforementioned two hits.

South Carolina wasn’t able to tag FSU with a second loss as the Noles defeated the Gamecocks 3-1. South Carolina never was able to lead in the game as FSU was able to keep them pinned down until the final inning when the Gamecocks finally were able to plate across a run.

Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Auburn were all able to eek out wins against their opponents. All four contests were decided by one run, as there were plenty of dramatics on display. The Rebels provided the most, engineering a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off against LSU, whom the Rebels can celebrate a sweep over this weekend. That sweep sets LSU back a bit as they’re now five games off Florida in the loss column and stuck at 8-7.
