Kentucky Wildcats guards Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox are among a group of their talented peers who are up for the Oscar Robertson and Wayman Tisdale Awards.
The USBWA published their midseason watch lists for the aforementioned honors on Monday, and the duo in Lexington are up for both awards, which are awarded annually to the top player and freshman in the country respectively.
Monk and Fox have been two of the best players in the SEC and the nation as well, so it comes as no surprise that the two are featured so prominently. It is perhaps a bit surprising that no one else from the SEC is featured on the list as there have been some deserving players from other teams that could draw serious consideration.
Nonetheless, there don’t appear to be too many serious snubs around both lists, which can be seen in the link above.
The tandem from Kentucky are two of several players to be featured on both the Oscar Robertson and Wayman Tisdale Award watch lists. Markelle Fultz (Washington Huskies), Lonzo Ball, T.J. Leaf (UCLA Bruins) and Lauri Markkanen (Arizona Wildcats) are the others.
