It’s been a very busy week for Florida, who has scored the commitments of running back Adarius Lemons (Clearwater) and Fred Hansard (Princeton, NJ) in the last four days. That week got more active on Saturday afternoon when three-star cornerback Shawn Davis (Miami) decided to pledge to Jim McElwain and the Gators for their Class of 2017.

As pictured in the video, Davis had weeded out several of his top choices to just two schools - UF and Miami, where Davis currently resides. As fate would have it, Davis has decided to trek up north to Gainesville as opposed to staying in his hometown to play for Mark Richt and the Hurricanes and will instead suit up for McElwain and the Gators when he arrives on campus next fall.
Davis brings the 2017 class for Florida up to 16 hard commits and is the 11th player from the Sunshine State to make their commit to the Gators. Currently, Florida’s class is ranked fifth in the SEC and 12th in the nation as McElwain & Co. are making great work so far within the ranks of the conference and the nation as well.
Shawn Davis is currently a three-star recruit via 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, the 72nd-ranked player in the state of Florida and ranks 51st at his position.
