NCAA Tournament and NIT: Texas A&M, Florida, and Georgia Face Tests

And then there was one: the Texas A&M Aggies are the only SEC team in the NCAA Tournament.

Today TAMU will face off against 11-seed Northern Iowa, which eliminated the possibility of an Aggies-Longhorns matchup with a half court heave that beat the buzzer against Texas. UNI sits at No. 70 in the KenPom ratings. It's a team that plays at one of the slowest paces in the country and is far higher in defensive efficiency than offensive.

A&M is a far better team, but the profile isn't too far off. The Aggies likewise aren't in a rush, but they're nowhere near as slowly paced as the Panthers. They're also better in defensive than offensive efficiency, but the A&M offense is far better. The best thing for Billy Kennedy's guys to do is push the pace, get UNI out of its comfort zone, and run up a safe lead. Northern Iowa probably doesn't have another buzzer beater in it, but it'd be best not to test it.

Elsewhere, Florida is traveling to Columbus to take on Ohio State at noon ET on ESPN, while Georgia is out in California to take on St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The SEC may only have one team left in the NCAAs, but it has plenty still alive in the NIT.
