Weekend play is already a day in! So let’s look at what happened on Thursday.
Thursday Results
#14 Kentucky 12, Jacksonville 4 (5 inn.)
#14 Kentucky 7, FAU 3
The Kentucky Wildcats took care of business on Thursday, earning a sweep of their doubleheader. The Wildcats first beat Jacksonville 12-4 and then the FAU Owls, 7-3. They run-ruled Jacksonville in just five innings and put up a seven-spot in the first inning. The second game was dominated by UK, who didn’t allow a run until the seventh and final stanza.
Erin Coffel got up to five homers on the season after hitting three on the afternoon! That included two dingers against Jacksonville. Renee Abernathy, Lauren Johnson, and Taylor Ebbs also connected on long balls on the day.
#17 Tennessee 10, BYU 3
#17 Tennessee 11, UC Davis 0 (6 inn.)
Tennessee rebounded from a tough weekend last week to start 2-0 this weekend. The Volunteers beat up both BYU and UC Davis, outscoring them 21-3. Ashley Rogers came back and went right back to it. Rogers pitched a complete game against BYU, fanning eight batters while allowing three earned runs. She was a little wild and a bit more ineffective than usual, allowing two homers and three walks. But in the second game against UC Davis, she looked more like herself. She pitched two scoreless innings to end the game with five strikeouts, zero hits allowed, and zero free passes.
Kiki Milloy hit yet another home run and came away with five RBI in the victory over UC Davis. Zaida Puni and Amanda Ayala also clubbed home runs as well.
#2 Alabama 9, Louisiana 1 (5 inn.)
Alabama came away with an early nonconference road win against a ranked opponent. The Tide went to Lafayette and defeated Louisiana, 9-2. They mostly were aided by a seven-run romp in the third inning that helped carry them to a five-inning run-rule win. Kaylee Tow hit a homer and drove in two of the nine runs that came around to score. Six different Tide batters came away with hits as the offense was very scattered and productive.

Some weekend highlights coming up!
~ #19 Mizzou must go through the ringer this weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Mizzou has drawn Oregon, Washington, and UCLA and all three are ranked and ranked no lower than 11th.
~ Aforementioned Tennessee also has a big matchup this weekend. They face the highly-vaunted #1 Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday. Lord, I wish that game was televised. UT also has to face #6 UCLA as well, just like Mizzou.
