The Kentucky Wildcats are still riding high after their win over the Florida Gators. They now hope to carry that intensity into their matchup with Murray State this weekend.
FCS Murray State will enter Kroger Field with an 0-2 record. Many ‘Cats fans will be curious to see if Kentucky can actually put away a team that they should put away early and never look back. This has been an issue for UK in the Mark Stoops era, but slightly less so against FCS teams. Close affairs vs. Eastern Kentucky did take place in 2015 and 2017, games in which UK won by seven and 11 points respectively. But against all other FCS foes, the margin of victory was just over 40 points.
Ideally, Josh Allen, Benny Snell and the rest of the starters will be able to get some additional rest before next week’s huge showdown with the Mississippi St. Bulldogs.
The Cats should roll to their second 3-0 start under Stoops, matching last season’s feat. This is only the second meeting between the schools, the other being a UK victory in 2003.
