Hinton is a native of Norcross, Georgia, located roughly 20 miles from Atlanta. He is listed as the second-ranked player in the state behind outside linebacker Owen Pappoe. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound pass rusher is also ranked ninth overall in the class of 2019. His addition to Michigan certainly gives Jim Harbaugh’s 2019 class a huge boost. The Wolverines’ class will vault up to No. 5 on 247Sports Composite once the calculation is tabulated. That means they’ll vault Alabama, Iowa and Miami in the process, as they seek another high finish in that department.
The Georgia Bulldogs had been in Hinton’s Top 6, which he had issued out on July 22. UGA was competing with Michigan and Stanford, Clemson, UNC and Ohio State for the blue-chip defensive end prior to his announcement.

Georgia’s class had already gotten off to a spirited start in the 2019 cycle. Currently, they’re ranked 3rd in the country behind Florida and Florida State, who hold spots No. 1 and 2. Had they been able to land the talented pass rusher, they would have vaulted both to claim the top spot.
Alas, Kirby Smart and his staff will have to regroup and continue their chase elsewhere. Pappoe is a name that could be one to watch for in this class in particular. The standout OLB is the best player in his home state and at his position too. Pappoe is also listed sixth overall in 2019, hanging just shy of the Top 5. Georgia is competing with Tennessee, Clemson and FSU for the Loganville native.
