The Florida Gators’ 2018 recruiting class took a hit on Wednesday night as four-star safety C.J. Smith announced his decommitment.
Smith, a 6-foot-2, 193-pound defensive back out of Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, made the announcement on his Twitter account.
With the loss of Smith, Florida’s recruiting class now stands 56th in the country and 12th out of 14 teams in the SEC.
Thus far, there doesn’t appear to be much indication of where the four-star safety will be heading to in 2018, but we’d expect that those who were in on him will only ramp up their pursuit. Alabama, FAU, Iowa State, USF and LSU were just some of the programs that were pursuing Smith prior to his original commitment back on March 28.
