It’s been a little while since we’ve checked in and forgive us for that. But, let’s preview tonight’s SEC slate, shall we?
TONIGHT’S GAMES
- Ole Miss Rebels vs. Southeastern Louisiana Lions — 7:30 p.m. ET, SEC Network, WatchESPN
- LSU Tigers vs. Houston Cougars — 9 p.m. ET, ESPN2, WatchESPN
It’s a very light slate ahead of us as there’s just two games going on. Breein Tyree and Ole Miss will play Southeastern Louisiana down in Jackson for a ‘neutral site’ game (which of course will favor the Rebels since Oxford is not too far away). The Rebels are 6-2 on the season and are riding a three-game win streak and have lost just once in their last five games. That includes wins over the Baylor Bears and San Diego Toreros, two Top 100 KenPom squads. Southeastern Louisiana ranks 291st, so the competition isn’t there for them here, but it’s a chance to get another W before conference season starts next month.
LSU, meanwhile, will have their hands full with a tough Houston squad. It’s the best game of the night without a doubt, and the Fertitta Center in Houston will play host to this showdown. Houston is one of the nation’s nine remaining unbeaten teams at this point, and they’ve looked mighty impressive. They have collected wins over three Top 100 KenPom teams - the BYU Cougars, the Oregon Ducks and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. LSU is looking to hope to avoid becoming the fourth Top 100 KenPom team they’ve beaten, as they currently sit 49th. And they also, of course, hope to hand the Cougs their first loss of the season. This will be very fun, and if you’re looking for something to watch, here’s your ticket.
