The Heisman Trophy will be presented to one lucky recipient on Tuesday night. The prestigious honor is likely to go to someone from the SEC, as three of the four finalists are from your favorite conference.
Two of them are from the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide, who’ll play in the National Championship Game next Monday, will have quarterback Mac Jones and wide receiver DeVonta Smith representing them. The SEC East Champion Florida Gators, meanwhile, have Kyle Trask repping them. The lone player not from the SEC is Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence of the ACC.
According to VegasInsider, Smith is the current odds on favorite to win the award. Should the all-world Alabama receiver win it, he’d become the first wide receiver to receive the honor since Desmond Howard back in 1991. Perhaps more impressive is the fact that Smith didn’t really do much on special teams this year like Howard did back in ‘91. Mac Jones is second on the list, while Trask is a huge, huge longshot.
