Remember all the worries about how Alabama would look on offense this year without Tua Tagovailoa, Jerry Jeudy, and Henry Ruggs?
As it turns out, they’re still pretty good! The Tide rolled to a 52-24 victory Saturday afternoon against the Texas A&M Aggies to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
Mac Jones looked great in the victory, finishing the day 20-27 for 435 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception.
The result was never really in question, as the Crimson Tide took a 35-14 lead into the half, and the rest was just icing on the cake.
In addition to Jones’ big day on offense, Devanta Smith, John Metchie, and Jaylen Waddle made sure to contribute, combining for 16 of Jones’ 20 completions, all four of his touchdowns, and 386 of his passing yards. Najee Harris added two rushing touchdowns for good measure.
Texas A&M ran into the same problem they have been running into the past few times they’ve played Alabama. The Tide are just a better team than the Aggies. Kellen Mond played well, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, but it just didn’t matter. In the three games A&M has played against Alabama under Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies have led for just four total minutes.
Alabama improves to 2-0 and heads to Oxford next week to face Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss, while Texas A&M falls to 1-1 with a matchup with the Florida Gators looming next week.
