Preview

This game is one of the most important in the SEC West for both the Auburn Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies. Both teams may not make the College Football Playoff, but the result of this matchup may determine who does. With both Alabama and LSU still undefeated in the SEC West, this game will effect the ratings for both teams.

Bo Nix will enter College Station to play his first true road game, in one of the toughest environments possible. The undefeated Tigers are looking to make a deep SEC run. He won’t be easily rattled either, having led the Tigers to a comeback win over the Oregon Ducks to start the season. Mike Elko needs to be able to contain the passing attack and force an early interception for Nix to be rattled. However, Auburn’s running attack is also pretty dominant. JaTarvious Whitlow and the other running backs need to be halted in order for the A&M defense to crank up the pressure. Noise will be a factor too, as 91,000 fans should show up for game day.

Kellen Mond rebounded against Lamar, and needs to stay hot in order to keep the dream alive for the Aggies. Their only loss this season came against reigning national champions Clemson in Death valley, so as long as Clemson remains perfect, they will be kept alive in the playoffs. Isaiah Spiller needs to be a factor in this week’s matchup. Spiller has had 2 100 yard games this season already. Auburn’s front 7 is stout, and should hold Mond in check. If Jhamon Ausbon or Quartney Davis struggle, expect the under to hit in a defensive slugfest.

If you love defense, this game is for you. Both A&M and Auburn have some of the best defenses in all of college football. In a primetime slot, this game will be decided on a few big plays and field goals.

Final Prediction: Texas A&M wins, 20-14
