The Tennessee Volunteers got in the win column Saturday for the first time this season, as they blanked the UT-Chattanooga Mocs, 45-0.
It was the exact type of game the Vols needed after back to back losses to open the season. Jarrett Guarantano made short work of the Mocs, throwing just eight passes on the day and completing seven of them, three of which were for touchdowns.
After getting a touchdown on their first drive of the game, Tennessee forced a three and out and then blocked the punt, returning that for a touchdown as well. Take a look!

As good as Guarantano and the offense looked, the defense was even more impactful, coming up with four interceptions and a fumble recovery, and leading to Tennessee’s average starting field position being their own 42.
In all, it was a quick, painless victory for a Tennessee team that couldn’t afford to fall to 0-3 to start the season without a revolt from the fanbase.
The Vols open SEC play next week in Gainesville against the Florida Gators.
