The Gerogia Bulldogs win big in their home opener and improve to 2-0 after beating the Murray State Racers.
It was an interesting first quarter, as it ended with the teams tied at 7-7. However, after that, Georgia cruised to a win, scoring 35 points in the second quarter alone. Jake Fromm only attempted 11 passes in the game, going 10-for-11 for 166 yards and a touchdown. Fromm was one of three quarterbacks to attempt a pass in this game for Georgia. Stetson Bennett went 9-for-13 for 124 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, with Nathan Priestley attempted a pass that went for two yards.
The rushing game showed out for Georgia. The leading rusher was Zamir White, who carried the ball eight times for 72 yards and a touchdown. D’Andre Swift rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns, and Kenny McIntosh also went for more than 60 (61). Brian Herrien also recorded a touchdown.
Murray State’s Preston Rice threw for 205 yards and a touchdown, and their leading receiver, Daquon Green, caught five balls for 101 yards and a touchdown. Their leading rusher only went for eight yards.
Georgia stayed number three in this week’s AP Poll. They will host the Arkansas State Red Wolves in Athens next week.
