The first half of the first round of the NBA Draft was relatively quiet for the SEC, with just one player being taken in the top 10 (Vanderbilt’s Darius Garland).
That changed when the 12th pick rolled around and the Charlotte Hornets selected Kentucky Wildcats forward PJ Washington.
Washington averaged 15.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in his sophomore season for the Wildcats, landing him on the All-SEC First Team.
The very next pick saw the Miami Heat take Kentucky guard Tyler Herro. Herro averaged 14 points per game for the Wildcats and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
