Before we dive into today’s action, let’s look back at Tuesday’s games, shall we?
Mizzou swept their doubleheader with Southeast Missouri State. The Tigers defeated SEMO 4-3 in Game 1 and then 4-1 in Game 2. Jazmyn Rollin went deep for the eighth time this season, while Kim Wert took flight for her 17th dinger of the year and collected her 45th RBI of the season. Game 2 saw Brooke Wilmes go deep for the fourth time this year, as she was one of four Tigers to drive in runs. Madi Norman and Cassie Gasper combined for 15 strikeouts in the two victories.
Elsewhere, 7th-ranked LSU defeated UL Monroe 8-0. The Fighting Tigers needed only five innings to take care of business against the RedHawks. Elyse Thornhill went deep for the Bayou Bengals, as she let fly with a solo shot to lead off the 2nd inning. Thornhill, Shemiah Sanchez, Amber Serrett, Michaela Schlattman and Amanda Sanchez all collected RBI in this rout.
Finally, Alabama kept their winning ways going with a 6-4 win over Belmont. The 3rd-ranked Crimson Tide fended off a rally by the Bruins, as they scored four runs in the 7th inning. But eventually, the fire was extinguished and they walked away with their 46th win of the season. Elissa Brown went 1-2 with two runs scored, two walks, two RBI and three stolen bases out of the leadoff spot.
There’ll be seven games going on this Wednesday evening. Four of them are part of doubleheaders, as Texas A&M will face Incarnate Word while Tennessee clashes with Tennessee State.
Meanwhile, Georgia will host Georgia State in Athens, Kentucky will welcome Eastern Kentucky to Lexington, and finally, Ole Miss plays host to Southern Miss in Oxford.
Given that a majority of these matchups feature ranked SEC squads, the conference should do well in these matchups. A&M is unranked, but certainly better than Incarnate Word. So, this should be a very successful Wednesday for the conference.
