SEC Baseball Players of the Week feature Florida, LSU, Kentucky and Vanderbilt

JJ Schwarz and Austin Bain share the Player of the Week honors.

Florida’s JJ Schwarz and LSU’s Austin Bain are this week’s Co-Players of the Week in the world of SEC Baseball. The Gators catcher and the Tigers’ RHP/DH were both awesome at the dish, each hitting an even .500 last week.

Schwarz was instrumental in UF’s sweep of Mizzou, driving in four runs in the series. He also clubbed a home run in the win over rival Florida State earlier in the week, as well. Meanwhile, Bain excelled at the dish and on the mound. He picked up a save against LaTech and hit over .500 in the series against Tennessee.

Kentucky’s Chris Machamer was named SEC Pitcher of the Week for ihs efforts last week. Machamer had two saves throughout the week , and also earned “pitcher of record” status, as he went 1-0, with a win in the Friday game against UGA.

Lastly, Vanderbilt’s Austin Martin won SEC Freshman of the Week honors. He hit over .460 and had an OBP of over .580 last week and picked up t least one base knock in the series against Ole Miss. A series, of course, that Vandy won over the Rebels.
