SEC Softball Midweek in Review, April 10-11

The SEC finished their midweek play out strong with one in the loss column. Here are the recaps of those games.

Tuesday April 10, 2018

Arkansas has a doubleheader against St. Louis and swept them in no-run games.

Game 1: Arkansas 7, Saint Louis 0

Mary Haff pitched a shutout, only allowing one hit. She walked one and sat down 13 batters in the victory. Tori Cooper had the big stick in this game, as she hit her third home run of the season, along with a double and collecting four RBI. Hannah McEwen also contributed with a double and an RBI.

Game 2: Arkansas 5, Saint Louis 0

Haydi Bugarin and Hannah McEwen carried the team offensively in this game. McEwen had two homers and four RBIs; Bugarin has a double and an RBI.

Kentucky 1, Eastern Kentucky 0

Katie Reed had the only RBI in the game to claim victory for the Wildcats. Erin Rethlake pitched seven innings, allowing two hits, walking two and striking out eight.

Ole Miss 9, Central Arkansas 3

Amanda Roth, Paige McKinney, Autumn Gillespie, Kylan Becker, Kaylee Horton all had two RBIs in the game. Anna Borgen was the winner in the pitching circle.

Mississippi State 11, Alcorn State 0

The Bulldogs pounded the competition in just four innings. Montana Davidson homered for the 14th time this season with a pair of RBIs. Reggie Harrison tripled with two RBIs, as well, in the win. Holly Ward pitched five innings, allowing three hits and collected six strikeouts.

Tennessee 8, Memphis 0

Meghan Gregg carried the stick, hitting her 12th homerun with four RBIs. Scarlet McSwain, Abby Lockman, and Jenna Holcomb all had an RBI each. Cayman Arnold was the winning pitcher in four innings, allowing four hits, walking two and striking out four.

Wednesday April 11, 2018

Missouri 6, Omaha 0

Kolby Romaine hit her fifth homerun of the season along with two RBIs. Rylee Pierce doubled twice and collected three RBIs. Lauren Rice pitched seven innings, allowing one hit, walking one, and striking out four.

Georgia 7, Georgia State 0

Justice Milz homered for the 12th time this season and had three RBIs. Alyssa DiCarlo also had two RBIs to lead the Bulldogs to victory. Mary Wilson Avant pitched five innings, allowing two hits, walking two and striking out five for the win.

South Carolina 7, Winthrop 0

Alyssa VanDerveer and Cayla Drotar led team offensively with a home run each and two RBIs a piece. Dixie Raley pitched four innings, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out three.

Ole Miss 5, Belmont 0

Amanda Roth, Paige McKinney, and Alex Schneider all contributed with an RBI each for the win. Brittany Finney pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, walking one and striking out eight.

Florida State 4, Florida 1

Aleshia Ocasio and Kayli Kvistad each had a double in the loss. Kvistad had the team’s only RBI. Ocasio pitched five innings, allowed five hits, four runs, walked two and struck eight out.
