WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- Alabama will be playing the top-ranked Washington Huskies twice this weekend. The Tide are taking part in the Husky Classic up in Seattle, and have the pleasure of playing UW at Husky Softball Stadium in the Pac NW. Despite playing no games at home so far, the Huskies are 18-0 to this point in the season. They have scored an average of 8.83 runs per game this year. Kirstyn Thomas, the reigning Pac-12 Player of the Week, is UW’s leading hitter, as she’s hit .579 through the first 18 games of the season, with a SLG% of a whopping 1.281. She has 10 home runs to this point of the year, so she’ll be one to watch in this one.
- The second-ranked Florida Gators will be facing the ninth-ranked Baylor Bears. Both Florida and Baylor are out in Fullerton, California for the Judi Garman Classic. Florida, 16-1, will face the 9-0 Bears. Baylor has been impressive this year, although not without a few close calls to Southern Miss and to Alabama, as well. This past week, Carlee Wallace, whom you may remember from her stint at Auburn, was named Big 12 Player of the Week. She’s currently second behind Jessie Scroggins in BA (.522) and leads the team in SLG% with a mark of .783. She also leads the team in OBP with a mark of .621.
