In a move that surprised... nobody, Alexis Osorio was announced as SEC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. Osorio had an absolutely dominant performance the last time we saw her in the circle. Not only did Osorio throw a no-hitter, but she also had TWENTY ONE STRIKEOUTS. TWENTY ONE! That tied an NCAA record and also set an Alabama record for the most Ks in a single game. She continues to be a legendary figure in SEC softball over the past few years, and there’s no telling how much more dominant she’s going to be.
Meanwhile, LSU’s Aliyah Andrews is the Player of the Week. The sophomore leftfielder helped lead the Tigers to a sweep of rival Auburn. She nearly hit .700 in the series, with an OBP of over .700 and a SLG of over .840. These are absolutely insane numbers to say the least, so it’s no surprise that Andrews received the award.
Elsewhere, Mia Davidson of the Mississippi State Bulldogs is your SEC Freshman of the Week. Davidson, a catcher/infielder for the Bulldogs, was awesome over the course of the week. She had three homers, three doubles, nine runs scored and peppered eight hits over the course of the games that she played. Certainly, that’s a terrific line for anybody, not even just the crop of youngsters that she beat out for the award.
