National Signing Day 2018: Quay Walker flips from Alabama to Georgia

The hits keep coming for the ‘Dawgs, as the former Tide commit signs with UGA

By the end of today, we’re going to talk about how Georgia Bulldogs’ 2018 class is one of the most dominant in the recruiting rankings era.

Former Alabama Crimson Tide commit Quay Walker did what was expected and flipped his signature to Georgia on Wednesday.

While Nick Saban and his staff worked very hard to keep the talented 4-star outside linebacker in their 2018 class, most prognosticators believed Walker would be taking his talents elsewhere when he announced on Signing Day.

It probably wasn’t a good sign for the Tide when Walker held off giving his signature during the early signing period in December.

This is now the third athlete that Kirby Smart has flipped from his former boss, Nick Saban. Wideout Kearis Jackson and cornerback Nadab Joseph were, also, committed to the Tide at one point in the 2018 cycle.

Walker’s pledge brings the Dawgs a position a need, as 2017 LB stalwarts Roquan Smith and Lorenzo Carter have left for the NFL.

Walker becomes Georgia’s 14th 4-star commitment of 2018 and gives the Dawgs one more piece in maintaining their spot atop the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings.

Congratulations to Walker and his family!
