The South Carolina Gamecocks survived a slugfest with the Ole Miss Rebels last weekend, pulling out a 48-44 victory in Oxford to improve to 5-3 on the year. South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley was excellent in the victory, picking up three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) and not recording a turnover. He also spread the ball around very well, as three Gamecock receivers (Bryan Edwards, Ty’Son Williams, Shi Smith) had at least 75 receiving yards.

All of this adds up to a bit of an issue for a Florida Gators team who got punched in the mouth at home by a then-reeling Missouri Tigers squad last week. Missouri came in without a conference win on the season, and left Gainesville with an emphatic tally in the win column. Florida allowed Derek Dooley’s offense to slice them up, as Drew Lock had one of his best games of the season, throwing for 250 yards and three touchdowns. The Gators have their own problems at quarterback, as Felepe Franks was removed from the Missouri game in favor of Kyle Trask, and Trask was injured in practice this week. It looks like the Gators will have to do with Franks yet again, which could spell trouble for them if they’re not able to keep South Carolina off the board. You don’t want to have to play catch-up with the QB situation Florida has at the moment.
